Creative composition made with Adobe Audition. The exercice consisted of creating an original soundtrack on a two minutes mute video.

The idea was to create a frightening audio atmosphere, but also to come closer to a coherent and comprehensible noise work, to a musical piece structured and written considering sounds as malleable textures, even as instruments, in the style of Akira Yamaoka on the video game Silent Hill and other experimental music composers of the twentieth century.

Just like a musical piece contains many movements, this audio work is evolutive: it tells a story via a modulation of different atmospheres.

Most of the work created during my Game Design course between 2013 and 2014.

Tiny Blood, one of our third year project at ICAN, contains noise music cartoon-inclined, coherent with the background and the artistic direction of the game.

As for the sounds of the game, they are strange and unusual sound effects, that can be offbeat and exaggerated, reminding of adult cartoons such as Happy Tree Friends and Fritz the Cat.

In-game music
the idea in the creative process of the Sound Design for Tiny Blood (formerly Chili Con Carne) was to create an atmosphere with those various sounds and noises that disconcert the player without scare him, letting him in a certain discomfort zone.
Our musical inspirations are Silent Hill, American Horror Story, Dancer in the Dark and even Futurama or Looney Tunes.

In Outdated, our inspirations are experimental composers such as John Cage, Pierre Schaeffer and Pierre Henry.

The Sound Design of the game contains rhythmic sounds and noises that form a musical piece in the background, while the signs and feedbacks are more cartoon and offbeat.

for Outdated (formerly Toy Project), we wanted to revisit the industrial music of artists such as John Cage, Pierre Schaeffer and Pierre Henry, by injecting to our Sound Design cartoon sounds and noises in order to be coherent with the offbeat background and the rhythm of the game.
